Lactaid Milk Recalled Nationwide Due to Undeclared Allergen

The Food and Drug Administration just announced a recall on Lactaid milk products sold in 27 states. This is due to the milk containing “trace amounts” of almond, an undeclared allergen.

The Lactaid brand products affected include 96-ounce jugs of whole milk, 2% milk, 1% milk, fat-free milk and 2% calcium-enriched milk. The specific details on these products are listed below:

The following states are impacted by this recall: Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. If you purchased Lactaid milk in one of these states, check your product for the recalled information.

While no illnesses have been connected to this recall, those with an almond allergy could unexpectedly experience an allergic reaction when consuming one of these dairy products. The reaction could be as severe as anaphylaxis, including symptoms like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hives and trouble breathing. If you are showing signs of anaphylactic shock after having one of the recalled Lactaid milks, call 911 immediately.
