Silly Monkey Oatmeal Bowl

A few slices of banana and two blueberries are all you need to turn a plain bowl of oatmeal into a fun and intriguing breakfast kids will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup reduced-fat milk

  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup or honey

  • 3 slices banana, one of them halved

  • 2 blueberries

Directions

  1. Bring milk and oats to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer; cook, stirring often, until thick, about 5 minutes. Stir in syrup (or honey). Transfer to a bowl.

  2. Decorate the oatmeal to resemble a monkey face using banana slices and blueberries.

Tips

People with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity should use oats that are labeled "gluten-free," as oats are often cross-contaminated with wheat and barley.
