Costco Just Recalled Cheese Due to Possible Plastic Contamination

Costco just announced a recall on cheese, according to a recent statement sent to members who bought the product. This is due to a potential foreign matter contamination.

The affected product is Tillamook branded cheese, specifically a 32-ounce twin-pack of Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack cheese slices. The recalled cheese has a “best if used by” date of October 22, 2024, and was sold at Costco locations in the Northwest region of the U.S. from May 9 through May 31.

Tillamook issued this voluntary recall after the brand identified gray and black plastic pieces that may be present in the Monterey Jack cheese slices included in these double packages. If you have the recalled cheese on hand, return it to your place of purchase for a full refund.

“If you have already consumed the product without issue, you do not need to take any action, as the likely presence of the foreign plastic material is very minimal,” the company states in the release. However, if you are experiencing any health concerns after eating the recalled product, talk to your health care provider as soon as possible.
